Time, death, and life everlasting

.

I wrote and posted this awhile ago. It still pleases me as a way of expressing my faith and the pain of this temporary world. MT

Sometimes, I hear a train in the distance at night. The sound is painful. Longing for the past – nostalgia – brings a similar feeling of pain. But I remember that,

.

The past is dead –

all its pleasures dead and gone,

destroyed by time, at Your decree.

My sins are gone – all forgiven! –

without any power over me.

So I am free.

.

I remember Your judgments –

Your deeds in time sustain me.

Fresh are David’s pardon,

Samson’s sanctification,

the garments Your servant Dorcas made.

Forever fresh are

Your sorrows,

Your cross,

Your glory.

Your love, Lord Jesus, lives forever –

real, true, and blessed,

it is eternal!

1 John 2:17

And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.

Former Catholic priests and nuns come to faith in Jesus Christ

.

The testimonies of former Catholics who have come to faith in Jesus Christ encourage me, especially Catholics who tried to give themselves to God totally in the religious life, and to find forgiveness for themselves and others by living a life of self-denial and intercessory prayer. I have known many sisters who were devoted to God in this way, but He did not ask this of them.

Priests and nuns, and Catholics in general, are almost always relying upon the Church to save them rather than relying upon Jesus Christ. The Church is their Mediator with the Father, not Jesus. And, too, Mary is said to be the Mediator of all graces. So they have both the Church and Mary (and the saints) between them and God. But many nuns and priests do leave the Church and find life, forgiveness, and freedom in knowing Christ as their Saviour. Someday He will destroy the system that tries to stand in His place, getting in the way and bringing confusion, grief, death, and eternal loss.

Jeremiah 2:13

13 For my people have committed two evils;
they have forsaken me the fountain of living waters,
and hewed them out cisterns,
broken cisterns, that can hold no water.

The meaning of forgiveness

.

Forgiveness from God,

and forgiveness for others,

is joy made complete

for all loving brothers.

The Lord’s forgiveness:

Luke 23:33-34

And when they were come to the place, which is called Calvary, there they crucified him, and the malefactors, one on the right hand, and the other on the left.

Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots.

.

Christian forgiveness:

Act 7:59-60

And they stoned Stephen, calling upon God, and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.

And he kneeled down, and cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. And when he had said this, he fell asleep.
