Colossians 1:9-13

For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; 10 that ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God; 11 strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness; 12 giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light: 13 who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son. . .

The Christmas Nativity continues to present a ‘baby Jesus’ to the world. This baby does not tell them that they are sinners in need of a saviour, this baby just lies there in a manger of a silent night, this baby is mute, powerless and lied about. This baby is not the truth!

Christian Christmas Chaos – The Tale of Two Fathers

by Helen
intro

OK, so this is all very basic Christian teaching so far; we initially belonged to a bad, lying father but then we had our spirit ‘born again’ when we repented of our own sins and were adopted into the Father God’s family.  From that moment, we each decide which Father we will listen to and which Father we will obey but we are aided and strengthened by the Holy Spirit as we abide in Christ and obey His word.

So now you are thinking, yes, but what does all this have to do with Christmas? You’re maybe thinking, I am a very busy person, it’s well into December already and I have presents to buy, food to cook, Christmas tree to get out of storage and decorations to fix up my house, and this blogger needs to get to the point real quick!  OK then, here goes!. . .”

John 1

AKJV

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.

Christmas: An Historical Survey Regarding Its Origins and Opposition to It

by Kevin Reed

Lately, I’ve posted excerpts from this article, here and here. This is the introduction:

To speak against Christmas observance is considered by many people to be sacrilegious and others as religious fanaticism. After all, how can anyone legitimately oppose such a hallowed institution?

The purpose of this study is to set forth scriptural reasons for opposing Christmas celebration. A brief historical survey will provide the suitable means for such an examination. Following an initial look at the origins of Christmas, we will note historic opposition to its observance, with special emphasis on Protestant objections to the holiday. We will see that Protestants, and especially Presbyterians, have rejected Christmas celebration, as demonstrated by the following facts: (1.) the scriptural principles of worship upheld by Reformed churches; (2.) the confessional testimony of the churches; (3.) the historic practice of the churches in their most orthodox times.

A word in season – Jeremiah and James, of the same mind

Jeremiah 8

The wise men are ashamed,
They are dismayed and taken.
Behold, they have rejected the word of the Lord;
So what wisdom do they have?

James 3

13 Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show by good conduct that his works are done in the meekness of wisdom. 14 But if you have bitter envy and self-seeking in your hearts, do not boast and lie against the truth. 15 This wisdom does not descend from above, but is earthly, sensual, demonic. 16 For where envy and self-seeking exist, confusion and every evil thing are there. 17 But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy.

Spiritual Abuse Sanctuary

Let me preface this post by saying I don’t belong to Facebook, or Pal Talk. I used to belong to Pal Talk a number of years ago. In the beginning I found a group where one could worship the LORD JESUS, and felt the Holy Spirit moving amongst those who gathered there. But that group disbanded for some reason. Since then, lets just say it seems to have become a haunt for every evil spirit out there, with constant infighting, insults, mud slinging and “bouncing out of the room” or “red dotting”, those who disagreed with, or questioned, even innocently, something the speaker is saying. And this, mind you, happens in “Christian” rooms.

After several bad experiences, I decided it wasn’t a healthy environment for spiritual growth and/or fellowship and so, I left and moved on.

Now, about Facebook, as I said, I never felt led to join, and having…
