Maria, This is one of those verses over which there is a boiling controversy today. Some have gone so far as to say that Peter was not an apostle to Gentiles but to Jews only because of this verse and what it implies for us. Thanks for posting. I think I’ll do my next article on this controversy. What is so interesting today is that teachers get so wrapped up in their own doctrine that they miss biblical truth.

Jerry, this controversy is new to me. Are some questioning whether this statement is for Jewish Christians only?

Yes there is a group within the Dispensationalist movement that realizes that this passage places us in too close proximity to Israel, and that doesn’t do their doctrine any good. Or so it would seem.

I see what you’re saying. But this is wrong and sad. The Lord made out of both – Jew and Gentile – one new man. Even if Peter was writing to dispersed Jewish Christians, he really must be thinking of and instructing both. I hope you blog about this, Jerry!

I guess if the Lord didn’t turn mankind around then we won’t succeed either.

So many marvelous truths in that one verse to unpack concerning our identity in Christ that comes about by God’s grace!
