Isaiah 40:6-8
gnv
6 A voice said, Cry. And he said, What shall I cry? All flesh is grass, and all the grace thereof is as the flowers of the field.
7 The grass withereth, the flower fadeth, because the Spirit of the Lord bloweth upon it: surely the people is grass.
8 The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand forever.
🌿
1 Peter 1:18-25
18 Knowing that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation, received by the traditions of the fathers,
19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a Lamb undefiled, and without spot.
20 Which was ordained before the foundation of the world, but was declared in the last times for your sakes,
21 Which by his means do believe in God that raised him from the dead, and gave him glory, that your faith and hope might be in God.
22 Having purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit, to love brotherly without feigning, love one another with a pure heart fervently:
23 Being born anew, not of mortal seed, but of immortal, by the word of God, who liveth and endureth forever.
24 For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man is as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower falleth away.
25 But the word of the Lord endureth forever: and this is the word which is preached among you.
This present age oft times brings sorrow, but joy comes in the morning.

How are you both doing?

Doing well. Ellen had a shoulder replaced about 1 month ago. So we have been slowed down a bit, but she’s doing better than I would be. So we are blessed. Thanks for asking. By the way thanks for for the nice response. I hope you are able to see what I’m believing scripture is trying to tell us. But I meant what I said before. Thanks.

Jerry, I know you meant what you said and will read carefully, brother. I’m glad Ellen is improving. It’s a serious surgery. We here can pray for you two!

Hi Maria.
Thank you for posting scripture. 😃
When I read the words from the Geneva bible that you post, I see similarities and differences from my king James.
From what I remember reading about the Geneva version, isn’t that translation somehow related to reformed theology? If I remember correctly, wasn’t this translation in some way connected to John Calvin when he was in Geneva?
Lord bless you sister, and good mornin.

By the way Maria, I should’ve mentioned this…I wasn’t trying to hassle you about the Geneva translation. It was only an academic question. I was just asking to see if what I heard was accurate.
I don’t even remember exactly where I heard that. Maybe I read it somewhere, or maybe I watched something about it on YouTube. I just don’t remember for sure.

Hi, Lee! What happened was that British Christians fled from Mary Tudor’s persecution and found safety in Geneva, Switzerland, where John Calvin was one of the chief preachers. Using Tyndale’s foundational translation they did an English Bible that became known as The Geneva Bible. Later, notes were added. Wikipedia has a good article which I read to answer you. It includes some explanations of differences but stresses that they were both based on William Tyndale’s work.

Biblegateway.com gives info on The Geneva Bible, but its info isn’t as substantial.
Good afternoon to ya! 😃

Thank you Maria, that was interesting.
Having now read the Wikipedia information, I’ll maybe think of the Geneva bible as the breeches bible. ☺

Thank you Maria my friend for your niceness to us.
Were fine. Are y’all okay?
And I told Melissa, and I’ll tell you…
Ain’t this blog world extra wonderful?
I mean where else can a Christian ask questions, answer questions, and discuss our faith 24 hours a day?
It’s just so so nice to be able to dialogue about Jesus and the bible anytime ya want.

Lee, it is a genuine blessing! We’re believers from everywhere under heaven. It reminds me of Malachi 3
16 Then they that feared the Lord spake often one to another: and the Lord hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the Lord, and that thought upon his name. [Jesus!] 17 And they shall be mine, saith the Lord of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spareth his own son that serveth him.

I’m glad you’re doing somewhat better, Wally, and that your wife is well, and of course King Percy, cat of distinction! It sounds like you have lots to do and lots you really want to do, and it must be hard to slow down. Sometimes the weather keeps us at home. Just take good care of yourself! Lord bless you out in AR!

Thank you Maria. Yes, you two be careful when it gets too cold. Getting older eventually gets us all doesn’t it? I can’t do now like I did at 35, and you two have to be careful of the cold. Some days I really look forward to that new, resurrected body!
