King David honored King Saul because he was the Lord’s annointed. We can read a clear account of this in 1 Samuel 24:1-22 (https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=1+Sam+24%3A1-22&version=KJV). Jesus is our king and we should honor him in every way–including obeying his every word.
