Winking, what’s it all about?

Proverbs 6:12-14

12 A worthless person, a wicked man,
Walks with a perverse mouth;
13 He winks with his eyes,
He shuffles his feet,
He points with his fingers;
14 Perversity is in his heart,
He devises evil continually,
He sows discord. quick search for ‘wink’

  1. It’s interesting how the bible talks about winking as plotting evil. This somehow corroborates with the one eye symbolism that is quite prevalent in the entertainment industry. Some people say those who try to expose the blatant symbolism are conspiracy theorists when in reality, it is a pledge of allegiance that lets the world know to whom they belong.

      • I had to look up images of the winking Santa you mentioned since I stopped paying attention since I was 10. However, the entertainment industry is so in your face about the one eye thing (even winking) in movie posters and their photo shoot it’s hard to ignore. It fits perfectly because it has been blatant about pushing adulterous lifestyles, lust, and basically the glamorization of what’s sinful. Perverse indeed.

        • Caeli, there is so much more to this than Santa’s wink, as you noted. Right! The image of the one eye in the entertainment industry truly is associated with sin and rebellion. I remembered this verse (and others) and decided to post it after watching a video made by a Christian that tried to debunk another Christian point of view with a sly wink. We need to be careful. We must honor the Lord with all of ourselves, even facial expressions. Thank you for engaging about this. It’s more important than a little wink, isn’t it?
