    • How can we? I ask this because I have a great nephew~he is a triplett~he will have possible surgery on his throat~he is a year old. I would like to pray with his mom but she is a staunch practicing catholic…I am trying to find scripture that says it is ok. All that I keep thinking of is scriptures about being like minded… If I can not I would like to ask you or any one else that reads this to pray for Baby Cooper. ❤

      • Elizabeth, I need help with this question. Perhaps you and I can find an answer from the former Catholic Mike Gendron’s article on whether there are Christians in the Catholic church and we can take it from there, and you and other Christians, including me, can pray for Baby Cooper:

        • Thank you SOOOO much for your response, Sis Maria! The first couple of sentences that you shared was me! It is so true! I highly respect Mr. Gendron. We were Face Book friends. A man of The Lord for sure! Thank you for your prayers for sweet Baby Cooper. ❤
          Also, I am still struggling with going back into that church. My husband doesn't have a problem with it for weddings and funerals because he says he is not "participating". If I can't worship with them I don't see the "point". I can't stand to sit there and listen to the mumbling and the untruths… it saddens me deeply. I may sit there and cry the whole time for everyone that won't "come out of her"… I still feel strongly that the Lord brought me out not to return for any reason… the struggle is real.

    • Why not, and especially if we know they are trapped in a false religious system? At the same time there ahould be a lot of praying FOR them behind the praying WITH them. Praying with them (and any unbeliever, actually) opens an entranceway for the message of the true Gospel. 2 cents from an old guy.

  3. I can not go into their building and worship with them. I do not worship or “eat” and “drink” their “Jesus” anymore. I do not have the same Jesus. That is why I asked about praying with one that practices catholicism…can we pray with a witch? A muslim? An Indian? If I lead the prayer then is it ok? I would be praying to the ONE TRUE GOD…I do not want to join them in their “prayer” to their “god”….

    • Dear Patrick, I was brought out of the practice of catholicism beginning with the conviction of God’s Holy Spirit of “Marian worship”. So it would not be beneficial to you for me to “comment”. With all my heart, Patrick, In Jesus name, I pray that you too, may be blessed by that same conviction. ❤

      • Oh, perhaps it would benefit me. These articles are not only for Catholics, but also non-Catholics. Sometime soon I will have an article out on the misunderstandings non-Catholics have towards Mary, and their false accusations of her as a goddess, or being worshipped. Thank you anyway.         • Dear Patrick~ When the Holy Spirit convicts you, you will never look at Catholicism or any religion and it’s practices the same. It’s all about Jesus! HALLELUJAH! No “Mary” and no bondage to what a man has conjured up in their corrupt spirit and beguiled many a man with. Said with love that ONLY a GREAT GOD through the simplicity through Jesus Christ alone can give one to share when the veil is dropped from their eyes and heart ❤

          • I’m sorry that I disagree, but Mary does have a place in a Christian’s life. She is the Mother of God, and if we are a child of God, she is the spiritual mother of us all. Christians need to honor Mary as Jesus did, for we are told to give honor where honor is due. (Romans 13:7)

          • I don’t understand the Protestant’s/non-Catholic’s dislike of Mary. She is not “just another woman”, but rather the great mother of God. No one else can boast to that. She is to be honored for her great role in salvation history.

              • P. s. I practiced Catholicism for many years and I too thought the catholic Mary was beautiful. I adored -worshipped- “her”. I don’t mean to be cruel but I am going to be bluntly honest with you…that worship of Mary is of the devil. I tell you this for the LOVE of God’s truth for your soul ❤

                Yes, Jesus is the way to the Father, but that does not negate the reality of Mary’s importance.

            • Patrick, may I comment? It isn’t correct to call Mary the Mother of God (Theotokos) but the Mother of Jesus. God does not and cannot have a mother for He is from all eternity, that is, He is self-existent. In the early Christological controversies and councils they gave Mary this title in order to protect the truth of Christ’s Deity, but calling her Theotokos is not needed and misleading. Yes, we love her but no we do not pray to her or wrongly ascribe to her the titles of Co-Redemptorix or Co-Mediatrix since this would be giving her glory and the Lord will not share His glory with another.

              • No, it is not incorrect to call her as such. Jesus is God. Mary is Jesus’ mother. That makes her the mother of God. Jesus Christ chose to enter time and become the God-man who would redeem the human race. Theotokos literally translates to “The God-bearer”. And Mary bore God. Saying that Mary is the Mother of God is not saying that she is the Mother of the Trinity, or that she is older than God. But, she is the Mother of Jesus Christ, God, the second person of the Blessed Trinity. Her being His Mother does not mean his is not self-existent. Jesus entered into time. He chose to become man, and since that choice, he has two natures: the nature of God, and the nature of man, tied 0together as one person. Mary is the mother of this person, and this person is God. This makes her the Mother of God. It is even mentioned in Scripture, when Elizabeth exclaims:

                “Who am I that the mother of my Lord
                should come to me?” –Luke 1:43

                The “Lord” is God. Mary is his mother. That makes her the Mother of God. Fairly simple. Thanks for commenting!

              • Patrick, it isn’t simple. The bishops of the early church, East and West, met in council together at Ephesus in 431 A.D. to determine whether Mary could indeed be called ‘Theotokos’ (the Mother of God), but after the council concluded there was still disagreement among them, and it was Emperor Theodosius II who made the decision in favor of ‘Theotokos’. These things are not so simple as people think.

                You’ve referenced more from the Gospel of Luke. Here are important passages from it, Matthew and Mark, which show that the Lord Jesus Christ didn’t take opportunities to exalt His mother in the way that Rome has done. All quotes are taken from a Catholic version of the Bible, The New American Bible (Revised Edition) (NABRE) © 2010, 1991, 1986, 1970 Confraternity of Christian Doctrine, Inc., Washington, DC.

                Luke 11
                27 While he was speaking, a woman from the crowd called out and said to him, “Blessed is the womb that carried you and the breasts at which you nursed.” 28 He replied, “Rather, blessed are those who hear the word of God and observe it.”

                19 Then his mother and his brothers came to him but were unable to join him because of the crowd. 20 He was told, “Your mother and your brothers are standing outside and they wish to see you.” 21 He said to them in reply, “My mother and my brothers are those who hear the word of God and act on it.”

                Jesus and His Family. (Their passage heading, not mine) 31 His mother and his brothers arrived. Standing outside they sent word to him and called him. 32 A crowd seated around him told him, “Your mother and your brothers [and your sisters] are outside asking for you.” 33 But he said to them in reply, “Who are my mother and [my] brothers?” 34 And looking around at those seated in the circle he said, “Here are my mother and my brothers. 35 [For] whoever does the will of God is my brother and sister and mother.”

                I bring these passages about this event in the Lord’s earthly life to you to demonstrate that while He honored His mother, and cared for her, he did not lay the foundation for Roman Catholicism’s doctrines about her: her preeminence, her sinlessness, or their ‘partnership’ in salvation. He told us to come to HIM, not to His mother as a Mediatrix of All Graces. So it is safe to stay with what Jesus Himself taught about His mother, and what the apostles reported of her. If Mary was to be given such a high place, this would be made clear in the great teaching Epistles, but it is not found there.

              • Your logic is not as sound as it seems. Using this same logic, why is the Blessed Trinity not deeply explained in Scripture? No where does the Bible say explicitly, “The Holy Spirit is God”. And yet Christians believe in a Triune God. Perhaps you should dive deeper into this Sola Scriptura article. Not everything is IN the Bible. The Bible is by no mean the sole teacher of Christianity.

                The citations you listed by no means determine that Mary is not to be honored highly. Jesus was making a statement in Luke 11 that everyone who hears the word of God and keeps it is blessed. Did Mary not do this? She literally kept the Word of God — Jesus Christ. None of these discount Mary’s special motherhood. Mary’s high place is made throughout the bible, in the Protoevangelium, The prophesy of Isaias, in the angel Gabriel’s greeting “Hail, full of grace”, and many others, not to mention John’s vision of The Woman of the Apocalypse (Mary), crowned with stars, giving birth to the child who will rule with an iron rod (Christ).

                There are reasonable explanations to all of the Catholic Church’s doctrines, including those of Marian subjects.

                Again, your argument appears to be full of holes logically, because slipping different subjects into the same logic does not make sense, the Trinity for instance. Remember, not all Christian teaching is in the Bible.

              • Patrick, everything we need for faith and life is found in the Word of God in some form, the Trinity and salvation by grace through faith especially. But the Marian doctrines which the Church of Rome teaches cannot be found. Here is the Protoevangelium in different versions, Catholic and Evangelical. An honest Christian will see that this first announcement of the Gospel must be about Jesus Christ, not Mary (Douay) or us ((NABRE version):

                The first announcement of the Good News of Jesus Christ MUST be about HIM!

                About the woman of Revelation 12 who is clothed with the sun and the moon. It cannot be Mary because the events recorded in the rest of this passage are not intelligible in this light. The woman is believing Israel (and the believing Gentiles grafted in) through whom Messiah came. Much of the imagery comes from Joseph’s dream and the woman is based upon Israel being YHWH’s covenant wife. I’ve posted the whole chapter because the woman – this great sign – must be understood in context.

                The Woman Persecuted

                13 Now when the dragon saw that he had been cast to the earth, he persecuted the woman who gave birth to the male Child. 14 But the woman was given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness to her place, where she is nourished for a time and times and half a time, from the presence of the serpent. 15 So the serpent spewed water out of his mouth like a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away by the flood. 16 But the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened its mouth and swallowed up the flood which the dragon had spewed out of his mouth. 17 And the dragon was enraged with the woman, and he went to make war with the rest of her offspring, who keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.
