Cute! We had a couple of chipmunks earlier this year and I named them Chip and Dale. It wasn’t long before we had more Chips and Dales! I’d say we have 3 Chipmunks to every 1 squirrel in our yard now. Lucy’s favorite toys to chase…
Wow! I haven’t seen a chipmunk in a long time, just a lot of squirrels. Does Lucy get out? Btw, I enjoyed the guinea pig conversation this morning.
:0)
This was my own recent learning curve…as I stayed in the New Mexico mountains for the week. My son said one of these porky pigs was bedded down for the night just outside my window. No fear, I have no intention of wandering out at night. These piggies run around everywhere in this neck of the woods, and can be very aggressive and dangerous. I’m recovering from the flu however, and not an encounter with a Javelina. This video was on YouTube shot from the little town of Hillsboro, 9 miles from Kingston where I was staying. Gorgeous part of our great country: God bless you all here on the WP homefront.
God bless you also, Scarlett!
Wow! I’ve heard these critters are running rampant in some places and dangerous – such as OK, where my husband’s kids live. Glad you were safely inside, and hope you’re getting over the flu!
Actually, just to be technical, these are “peccaries”, native to this continent. These little beasties are quite different than the Feral hogs that are ravishing Texas, and Oklahoma which grow to huge proportions. I’m not sure whether they would make good hickory smoked bacon or not, but there is a hunting season for them, as they’re all over the place. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peccary
As for my recovery…I’m on full medication, but not getting much sleep at night for coughing. This too will pass, (unless I do first, lol).
Son-in-law wants to hunt these feral hogs. I guess, depending on what they eat, they can make good bacon. It sounds like a plague, Scarlett. There are also feral critters in the church and very harmful!
What a gorgeous film clip. We don’t have chipmunks here in Australia but we do have some very cute little creatures. I’m amazed how he fits a whole peanut in his mouth. 👍
Hi, Karen! Yes, isn’t it incredible and he is so persistent! In the U.S. we have lots of tv shows about Australian wildlife but mostly about kangaroos, crocs, and koala bears. It looks like a beautiful and diverse land.

It is beautiful Maria. Thankfully only koalas and kangaroos nearby plus snakes and lizards but they’re lovely to see (except the snakes)

It sounds great! What kind of lizards? (Yes, I feel the same about snakes.)

We have water dragons and blue tongued lizards. Both are friendly and they love the sunshine

As a child I had tiny pet turtles. God’s creation is so amazing. I’m glad you like where you’re living, Karen!
