Jeremiah 6:16
NKJV
16 Thus says the Lord:
“Stand in the ways and see,
And ask for the old paths, where the good way is,
And walk in it;
Then you will find rest for your souls.
But they said, ‘We will not walk in it.’

Cambridge Declaration
“The gospel declares what God has done for us in Christ. It is not about what we can do to reach him.”
Under “Creeds and Confessions” at Theopedia.com, I found the Cambridge Declaration in a very readable format. Theopedia.com introduces the Declaration in this way:
“Formulated April 20, 1996, by a group of conservative evangelical theologians and pastors, The Cambridge Declaration of the Alliance of Confessing Evangelicals is a call to recover the historic Christian faith. The Five Solas of the sixteenth century Protestant Reformation form the outline of the declaration.”.
.
Cambridge Declaration of the Alliance of Confessing Evangelicals
“Evangelical churches today are increasingly dominated by the spirit of this age rather than by the Spirit of Christ. As evangelicals, we call ourselves to repent of this sin and to recover the historic Christian faith…”

I always appreciate your links, Maria. I don’t always get to read them all, but when I do I find myself appreciating them.

Thank you, Maria. All of this is extremely important information that would greatly benefit Christians who spend time at WordPress. But as we both know, most would rather spin spiritual cotton candy. After coming back to the Lord two years ago, I was troubled when I learned about Chuck Colson’s Evangelicals and Catholics Together (1994) and follow-up declarations but I was encouraged by the Cambridge Declaration and other reactions to ECT by some evangelicals.

Hi, Tom! Yes, the ECT documents – and other compromises – are a huge concern, but some have stood against them for the Lord. So grateful for that! Thanks for your reminder about ECT!

This was a good, informative post. It offers a nice dose of perspective to those of us who believe.

Hi, Robert! It does offer needed perspective. We’re confronted all the time by Christians doing their own thing with doctrine and practice, and this gives us an opportunity to refocus and pray. Thank you so much for your comment!
Today I haven’t felt my best and have been doing some relaxing reading with Jacob and Dessie. Good read. Some stories can only be told in omniscient style. I like it!
